Dawn Woods, Print Finishing Assistant at our Print Facility in Penrith, recently took a Charity Day to volunteer at the Eden Animal Rescue Centre, spending her day caring for the cats at the shelter.
At H&H Reeds, we take pride in providing our staff with the opportunity to volunteer for a charity during their working week. We’re committed to giving back to the community and supporting our team in making a meaningful difference and we’re grateful to have this wonderful initiative supported by H&H Group.
Dawn, who went along to the Centre with her daughter, Melissa, shared her experience working with the feline friends: “Our main task was cat cuddling, which sounds easy, but as most of the cats are strays, some are friendlier than others. I think they should rename it cat socialising.”
“We were also tasked with the job of getting good photos of the cats and kittens to put on social media so they can hopefully attract new owners. We also played with, fed, and watered the cats. We only had one that escaped out into the corridor - it took us 10 mins to get him back in. This was a 10-year-old cat whose owner had passed away; he was a big boy and no chance of picking him up as he is known as being a biter. There were lots of cute ones that I would have loved to take home, I’m not sure our cat Teddy would like it though!”
