This new award recognises a company that has demonstrated a successful commitment to managing its environmental obligations and takes an ethical stance. Broadcaster and author Cathy Newman presented the award to Andy Jackson, Managing Director who was accompanied by fellow Directors Phil Gowling & Simon Rees as well as Joe Meola, Head of Creative. We commenced the application and judging process in June this year. This involved a stringent examination and reviews of our companies’ policies and practices. The expert judge was Phil Davies who is low carbon development manager at Cumbria Action for Sustainability. Phil works with businesses and communities to develop and deliver projects, ranging from small hydroelectric schemes to energy efficient refurbishments. Speaking of H&H Reeds, and how they emerged as the final winner Phil said: “H&H Reeds is truly walking the walk when it comes to their environmental obligations, with a huge range of initiatives in place and a passion from its team to deliver on them. H&H Reeds are role models and shining examples of how embracing the green and ethical agenda can have a real impact.” On accepting the award Andy Jackson said: “This is a fantastic accolade which I am delighted to accept on behalf of everyone here at H&H Reeds. We continue to use the most ethically balanced equipment and practices. Our staff are committed to environmentally friendly processes and often adopt these at home. We work on community projects support schools and local organisations whenever we can. Not only does this award recognise all the work the company has done for many years it also recognises an input and commitment from all our staff and the support of customers who share our values” The story behind the H&H Reed’s success, and the reason for its award, goes beyond the practices the company follows today, and demonstrates our clear commitment to social and community values.
